Dive or Ditch - What Would You Do?
Before you answer the question of whether you’d dive or ditch the whole idea let me paint the scenario for you. You’re living off of your 401k, draining all of your savings, running from one networking group to another, and still, you’re broke. It’s been two years, and you’ve tried everything you heard the coaches standing on stage say, but it still isn’t working. The dream of being your own boss and becoming an entrepreneur is quickly closing in on you. Then someone says, “You’re going to have to get a J-O-B.” You’re feeling burnt out and depressed. A job? No way! you think. Well, maybe that’s exactly what I’ll have to do if I don’t make some money fast.
The reality of being your own boss
How is your new title as an entrepreneur working out for you? Are you diving deep or feeling so burnt out you’re ready to ditch the path you’re on right now and try something new? How’s the money holding up? Are you headed for a J-O-B just to put gas in your car and food on the table? Have you been feeling overwhelmed by all the different ways you could build your business, so you’re having trouble deciding which path to take? Are you tired of working endless hours everyday trying to do the “right” things for your business? It might feel frustrating because you’re in the same position you were in last month, and the month before, and the month before that?
WALKING MILES IN YOUR SHOES
I know what it’s like to live in fear and wonder where your next meal will come from. There was a time in my life when I was standing in front of a big, green dumpster holding my two young children’s tiny hands trying to decide if I should dive to feed the family or ditch and run for the beach. As we stood there watching others dumpster-diving for watermelons, I could feel the fear rise up in my core. I had only fifteen cents in my pocket, and a pot of rice and beans was waiting for us in our tiny eighteen-foot trailer parked on the beach. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, but it is one I’ll always remember.
At the point of desperation, it’s not money we need nearly as much as we need knowledge. And it’s knowledge you’ll find in the blogs that follow. You’ve already heard from all those other coaches what you’re supposed to do to build your business. But why has it all been a miserable failure.
Breaking the rules of secrecy
Perhaps, like me, you’ve noticed that no one tells you how to build your business to create a successful income. Isn’t that what you pay coaches and seminar leaders the big bucks for? I’ve decided it’s time to break all the rules. Each week we’ll overcome the secrecy by providing you with the much-needed how. All you need to do is subscribe to my blog and do the exercises I share with you.
Finally, you’ll be given the secrets all of the coaches on stage leave out. After all, the information given to you from the stages was free, wasn’t it? What did you expect? I guarantee that after reading my weekly blog, you’ll no longer need to waste your weekends crammed into tiny chairs, hoping for a nugget of information on how to make a living as an entrepreneur. But you must put the information I provide into action or you’ll be in the same boat you’re in right now.
What this blog will give you
You’ll get the answers for determining who your target market is, where to find your clients, how to open a sales conversation authentically, how to make a sale without feeling pushy or getting rejected, and you’ll receive a blueprint for building a profitable business that is guaranteed to increase your income. Finally, you’ll be provided viable strategies for what to do with the massive amount of money you’ll soon be earning. You probably haven’t even thought that far ahead yet, but you will need to know how to live with your success, once you know exactly how to win.
Regardless of our age or gender, we all need to be at peace financially. We all need to pay our bills, take care of our families, and save for our futures. There’s nothing we want more than to take control of our own lives. Right?
FROM DUMPSTER DIVING TO DIAMONDS
While standing in front of that dumpster, I vowed it was time to take control of my life. I’d had enough and there was no way I was going to dive into that big, green monster. After making that final decision, I went on to bootstrap my own nationwide California C Corporation—Signing Pro, Inc.—from zero to multi-millions, with 23,000 people working under me.
For seventeen years, I was a CEO who walked with giants such as Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Fidelity Title, Lending Tree, prestigious law firms, mortgage brokers, and so many more. Signing Pro, Inc. was the second-largest notary document-signing service in the nation
In October, 2010, due to a decline in business from the 2007-2008 market debacle, I closed Signing Pro’s doors and went on to become one of only 253 CFE Certified Financial Educators® in the United States. For years I’ve spoken on the importance of understanding easy financial principles.
Media and Massive Visibility
In 2016, I hoste the show Maximize Your Wealth Now (WMAX.TV). This two-season program was designed to enhance financial knowledge globally in an effort to lift public awareness and the economy. You can view all twenty-six episodes on my website. I am currently a syndicated radio show host, author, international keynote speaker, and the publisher of Wealthy Woman Magazine. I am also the owner of Massive Visibility Media™, which specializes in educating coaches, trainers, and entrepreneurs on the answers for transforming their businesses by selling with heart, developing confidence, creating correctly priced saleable programs, and stepping onto stages, web TV, podcasts, and radio for massive marketing visibility.
WHO’S YOUR MENTOR?
Believe me, I don’t have all of the answers. I’m on this journey called life just like you are, and every day, I enjoy having an opportunity to learn something new from my students. However, I have built multi-million-dollar businesses, so I know how to get you where you want to go. It’s not magic. It’s simply a step-by-step system that is broken down into small, manageable pieces.
I understand your frustration, and I know you’re doing the best you can with what you know in this moment. I want you to know it is okay and I believe in you. Where you are today, with your business, is simply a reflection of what you have or haven’t been taught. And when the money gets tight, who can afford to pay $30,000 to get the answers for how to build a successful business? However, I also believe everyone needs an education in order to move forward in business, so you should make smart decisions about whom you hire.
Are you ready?
You’ve found me now. As you read, let me be your mentor, your coach, your accountability partner, and a shoulder to lean on. You may also want to find a journal to write in your answers to the exercises I offer throughout.
The big question is: Are you ready to maximize your wealth now and make a change in your lifestyle? If so, you will need to expand your comfort zone and build your confidence muscle to achieve financial freedom.
Do you want to make a difference in the world by becoming massively visible for massive income? If so, good! Let’s get started and take this journey together! Now is your time! Let’s go
REVEALING THE 3 Cs
“You are essentially who you create yourself to be and all that occurs in your life
is the result of your own making.”
— Stephen Richards
DIVE OR DITCH – My Answer
The most painful point in my dumpster-diving tale is that I went from outrageously wealthy to seriously considering crawling into that dirty, stinky thing just to grab one over-ripe watermelon we probably couldn’t possibly eat. The whole idea was a perfect representation of my thinking at that time.
My brain was mush, just like the red pulp oozing inside the green-and-white rind. Have you ever felt that kind of fear, the kind of fear that causes a whirling in your brain so loud you can’t think straight?
Thinking like a leader
As my children and I continued to digest the calamity of destitute and broken humans scrambling in and out of the gigantic green container, with overripe melons tucked under their arms, I found myself wondering, Why can’t just one person get into the dumpster and hand each of us a watermelon? Why do all of these poor people, waiting their turn, have to scale the walls?
The operative word was definitely “poor.” My sons and I felt sorry for them. We felt sorry that they had such a challenge getting in and out of the dumpster. And we felt sorry for them because they looked like ragamuffins who’d been living under a bridge half a mile down the road. Unfortunately, I believe their being “poor” resulted from them not knowing the tools that would permit them to work together or the belief that they could change their lifestyles.
THINKING IS BELIEVING
Over my lifetime, I’ve gained and lost a fortune three times. Each loss was the final result of a marriage gone wrong. These were my biggest financial mistakes and my most expensive golden lessons.
But how could I have forecast that husband number one would be controlling and abusive, number two would be a thief and philanderer, and number three would be a bipolar alcoholic? The reality is no one could have. But here is where the choice of pain or peace provides an opportunity to choose correctly.
With each of these men, I had built powerful, income-generating businesses. Each divorce presented a golden lesson that forced me to choose between wallowing in my pain and misfortune or learning from my mistakes, joyfully accepting peace, and embarking on a greatly appreciated do-over.
Without these unfortunate lessons, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I most definitely wouldn’t be who I am: a strong, independent businesswoman who leads with love and builds vast worldwide communities with heart.
You always have a choice
Standing at the dumpster, I suddenly realized you always have a choice. It’s what you choose to think, speak, and believe that makes all the difference in your future. If you were standing there, with your two small children, what would you have chosen pain or peace? Would you have chosen to dive into the dumpster or ditched the whole idea?
Suddenly, my five-year-old looked up at me, with the wisdom of an old soul, stating clearly the words I’d already decided to act on: “Let’s go home, Mommy. The rice and beans are fine with me. I don’t need a watermelon.” We had both chosen peace
Decision policies for avoiding mistakes
Since that time, I think carefully before making decisions. I take the time to sit quietly and evaluate those decisions’ long term effects on my life and how they will affect those around me. In every case, I choose to take the high road toward peace.
Later that day, while the boys played blissfully on the beach, I sat at the tiny trailer table, writing a three-step strategy that would change my life, maximize my wealth, and most importantly, guarantee I would never be required to consider dumpster diving again.
WHAT’S UP FOR NEXT WEEK?
Next week we’ll begin our discussion of the 3 C’s. Let’s dive in there, instead of the dumpster, with the next steps on how to change our perspective of life into one of peace, harmony and financial success.
